NOTICE OF JOINT PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX INCREASES

Public notice is hereby given, in compliance with the provisions of Neb. Rev. Stat. § 77-1633, that a representative of the following political subdivisions will meet on the 17th day of September, 2024 at 6:01 P.M., at the Franklin County Ag Building, 1217 G Road, Franklin, NE 68939 for the purpose of conducting a joint public hearing to obtain public input on property tax increases proposed by the subdivisions:

  • City of Franklin, (308) 425-6295, property tax requested: $228,461.00
  • Franklin County, (308) 425-6202, property tax requested: $3,441,751.01

Said meeting is open to the public. Accommodations for the disabled are available upon request. Please contact the Franklin County Clerk at (308) 425-6202 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting if accommodations are required.

There is no item on the agenda for this joint public meeting other than discussion of each political subdivision’s intent to increase its property tax request by a percentage greater than the “allowable growth percentage” defined in § 77-1633. The political subdivisions shall make their presentations in the order listed above.

Highway Maintenance Worker I - Full-time Opening
Franklin County Road Dept. is looking for four full-time, permanent Highway Maintenance Worker I employees. Competitive wages depending upon qualification starting wage would be $20.75 to $21.65 and a generous benefit package include BC/BS employee insurance coverage with the option to purchase family insurance, dental and vision insurance and a retirement package. Must be a dependable self-starter and work well with others. Work will consist of general road maintenance including culvert work, bridge work, truck driver, occasional motor grader operation, other heavy equipment operation, tree removal, mechanic work, etc. Must have good driving record and have a CDL or be capable and willing to obtain same within 60 days of employment. Must be able to lift 50 lb. and perform manual labor as needed. Drug testing required. Applications will be taken until job is filled.
